The PhD candidate will work in a research group in computational mathematics. The research group focuses on development of computer methods for solution of partial differential equations with applications in solid, fluid, and bio mechanics. The research activities are interdisciplinary and build on a combination of mathematics, computer science, and applications.
The PhD research project focuses on development and analysis of reduction methods for finite element models of elastic and thermoelastic problems with applications in multibody simulation of mechanical systems. The research project is carried out in close cooperation with industrial and academic partners. Knowledge of finite element methods, numerical analysis, partial differential equations, mathematical modeling, fluid and solid mechanics, and programming in Matlab and C++ is qualifying.
