For the first time in 12 years, Pitt will play home football games this year against two teams ranked in the previous season?s Top 10.
Included on the list of ACC opponents released Friday by the conference is a game at Heinz Field against defending conference champion Florida State, which finished the 2012 season 12-2 and ranked 10th in the nation.
Pitt also will play one of its four non-conference games at home Nov. 9 against No. 4 Notre Dame (12-1), the loser in the national championship this season.
The last time Pitt played two Top 10 teams at home was 2001 when the Panthers played No. 2 Miami and No. 6 Virginia Tech.
The game against Florida State will be the only matchup at Heinz Field between the Seminoles and Panthers for the next 12 years.
Pitt?s eight-game ACC schedule also includes six Coastal Division dates against Miami, North Carolina and Virginia at home and Duke, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech on the road.
The other two are cross-over games at Syracuse and at home against Florida State, both from the ACC?s Atlantic Division.
Dates for conference game have not been announced.
Pitt will open its season Aug. 31 at home against Villanova of the FCS. It also plays New Mexico on Sept. 14 at home and Navy on Oct. 26 in Annapolis, Md.
