FREE SUMMER ART PROGRAM THROUGH THE MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART OF THE AFRICAN DIASPORA
MAP @ LIU Brooklyn is a free summer intensive studio course and field study for serious young artists interested in developing their portfolios. Classes are taught by practicing artists and college professors who specialize in drawing and painting. High school juniors or seniors interested in pursuing higher education in the visual arts should apply. The program runs July 9 - 27 from 9am? 4pm Participation is free. FORT GREENE SUMMER YOUTH CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOPS
Free 6 week Saturday workshops for 8-12 year olds and 13-17 year olds (and parents), July 7th through August 11th. Meet from10:30 to noon in Fort Greene Park. At the end of the 6-week workshops, all participants will be invited to read their writing as part of the 8th Annual Fort Greene Park Summer Literary Festival on August 18th! Sponsored by the LIU Brooklyn School of Business, Public Administration & Information Sciences in conjunction with the Foundation for Accounting Education of the New York State Society of Public Accountants, COAP aims to encourage high school junior and senior students to pursue careers in accounting. The free weeklong program is held annually each June and includes accommodations in the residence halls. In addition to a hands-on view of the accounting industry, students will experience campus life and participate in sessions on resume writing, etiquette, communication, and business ethics.
